Traditional Cremation Services

A Traditional Cremation is a funeral with a religious or non-religious service at a crematorium (with the option for a church service preceding or following on from a cremation). 

Please ensure you have chosen a coffin and a crematorium before calculating the cost.

    Professional fees include:

    • Receiving initial instructions and giving advice on Registration of death
    • Discussing all options available including the choice of Cremation or Burial
    • Explaining HM Coroner Procedure where applicable
    • Advice on all procedures and paperwork
    • Completing all paperwork relevant to Cremation or Burial
    • Arranging a date and time for the funeral
    • Liaising with minister or celebrant on your behalf before your meeting with him/her
    • Discussing options for music and hymns and facilitating at the funeral venue
    • Advising on printed Order of Service an facilitating the productions
    • Helping with notices for local/national newspapers
    • Advice on choice of coffin
    • Advice on flowers and receiving into our care on the funeral day.  Options for delivery elsewhere after the funeral
    • Advice on donations for charities and explaining the options for receiving into our care
    • Advice on bereavement care
    • Advice on catering and venues after the service
    • Making all detailed arrangements and conducting throughout on the day

    Removal of the deceased into our care from home/hospital inclusive of 20 miles between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm (Monday to Friday)

    If the deceased is collected out of normal working hours (9:00am - 5:00pm), at the weekend or bank holidays, or is in excess of 20 miles, there will be an additional charge.

    A limousine can take up to 7 family members or friends to the service, either following the hearse or separately. We have additional limousines if required

    If any family members or friends are visiting the deceased in our chapel of rest it can sometimes be appropriate to carry out some hygienic treatment in order to ensure that your loved one can be presented to the highest standard. The Funeral Director will advise you further on this matter.

    We can make all necessary arrangements including placing the ashes in a wooden casket, digging the plot, setting a date and time, and liaising with the minister/celebrant. There will be an additional fee payable to the church or cemetery.

    We can supply two or three members of staff to take the names of all those who attend the service. These names are then typed up and a printed list of the names is sent to you

    We can advise on the options available for floral tributes, and either liaise with a local florist on your behalf or give you their contact details so you can speak to them directly.

    A notice advising of the details for the funeral can be placed in a local newspaper and/or in a national newspaper. The cost depends on the length of the notice but notices in national newspapers are significantly higher than those in local newspapers

    Provision of Ashes Casket/Scatter Tube/Urn

    Additional Guidance Relating to Provision of Ashes Casket/Scatter Tube/Urn

    If ashes are to be buried then a casket is usually the most appropriate option. If ashes are to be scattered then a scatter tube would be suitable. There are also various memorial urns and keepsakes in which to store and keep ashes. Your Funeral Director can advise you further on the options available.

    If you would prefer an alternative to a traditional motor hearse, a horse drawn funeral carriage or a motorcycle hearse can be used to transport the deceased to the service.
